Egg Carton Caterpillars & Other Critters

Camp Craft Week Project #1: Egg Carton Caterpillars
and Other Critters

Egg Carton Caterpillars and Critters are a timeless kids' craft, perfect for all ages.  With a little prep from an adult, this project will keep the kids entertained for hours of creativity and imagination fun!

Materials
Egg Carton
Pipe Cleaners
Google Eggs
Markers
Watercolors
Fuzzy Balls
Elmers Glue
Scissors
Hole Maker {sharp object for the adult}

Instructions
1. Adult Prep: Carefully cut off top of carton and cut out cups.

**Adult Prep: At this time, I encourage adults to pre-make holes in the critters to make room for pipe cleaners.  I did it out of order and thought better of it later.  See steps 3 and 4.

2.  Watercolor the egg cartons and let dry.

3.  Construct the body of your caterpillar.
Poke a hole in the front and the back of the pieces.
String body pieces on.

4.  Poke holes in sides of bodies for legs.  String through pipe cleaners and bend.

5.  Now we need some antennae.

6.  Decorate with google eyes, fuzz balls and markers.  Isn't he cute?!

Create more critters by using only one or two egg carton cups.  I made beetles and spiders.  Let the little ones use their imagination.  Before you know it, you'll have a critter party!

    1. Hi there! I forget what it's called but I found it in the scrapbooking aisle at Michaels next to the rivets. Great for making holes in stacks of paper. I love it because it has the comfort grip. :)
